The home was buzzing with good conversation as residents, relatives and friends tucked into delicious tea and cake before a raffle was drawn.

Home manager Carolyn Paterson couldn’t wait to call out the lucky tickets on the day, giving all the winners a buzz, and raising £265 for charity.

Elstow Manor Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coach Oliver Waddington said: “We decided that we wanted to support the charity, and everyone agreed that a raffle would be fun, and the tea was the icing on the cake!

“Our chefs exceeded themselves this time by serving up the most amazing walnut and carrot cake, cheese and onion pasties, chocolate brownie cake, scones with strawberries and cream, and a selection of sandwiches.”

And not to be outdone, residents also prepared for the day by baking some of the recipes provided by Breast Cancer Now. They included Julie’s rustic scones, Larraine’s apple cake and Juliet’s cheese and tomato tart.

Oliver added: “Everyone played a part, and we are delighted to hand over a substantial sum to a charity that makes such a big difference to so many people’s lives.

“Thank you to everyone who supported our event and joined us on the day.”

Breast Cancer Now supports anyone affected by breast cancer, as well as funding breast cancer research in a bid to discover how to prevent, help save lives and live well with breast cancer.
