Written with love: Elstow Manor residents open their hearts

A group of nonagenarians at Elstow Manor Care Home have offered their words of advice to young couples embarking on their lives together.

As love remains in the air for Valentine’s month the four Elstow Manor Care Home residents decided to get together and talk about love.

Resident Wild Hulland, aged 94, was very clear about what he thought made a strong relationship. He said: “Trust and companionship and enjoying life with each other.”

Fellow resident Anne Poole, aged 90, said that whilst love is most important, there were other things that mattered too. She added: “Patience and manners, although love is most important.”

And ninety-four-year-old Ruth Register said love also came with sadness. She said: “Mutual love and care, I miss my husband Roy so much.”

Derek Frossell, aged 93, believes it’s always important to be considerate. He said: “Absolute tolerance to your partner's wishes.”

The residents spent Valentine's Day at their luxury care home, reminiscing and sharing their stories of true love
