Adventurous residents at Newton House Care Home were delighted to meet some incredible creatures when the team from Sense of Nature stopped by.
The residents enjoyed getting up close to a range of amazing animals, from a blue-tongued skink, a large tegu and a stunning barn owl.
And the visit allowed some guests to overcome their fear of certain creatures.
Resident Robin said he enjoyed meeting Nugget, the beautiful barn owl. He said: “She was so calm and proud and very wonderful to have here at Newton House.”
Also visiting in the day were cuddly guinea pigs Pancakes and Honey and a gorgeous rabbit called Parma. The friendly lizards, Greggs and Big Red, also caused quite a stir, especially when they impressed residents with their climbing skills.
The animals were visiting with Jade and Ian from Sense of Nature which is based in Renfrewshire and has a mission to encourage an interest and love of animals.
Newton House Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach Kerry-Anne McDade said: “Our residents, visitors, and staff had a fantastic time meeting a fascinating array of animals.
“The event was so interactive, with residents having the opportunity to hold the animals and learn about them.
“Some people also had an opportunity to face their fears and discomforts around these very friendly creatures.”
Guest Ruth McKenzie, who is regularly at the home visiting her mother-in-law, said: “This was such fun. Our wee grandson just loved seeing the animals.”
