Super heroic workers were put in the spotlight at a Cofton Hackett care home when residents wanted to say a big thank you to those who care for others.
Residents and the team at Cofton Park Manor Care Home, Lickey Road, celebrated National Caregiving Day by dressing up as their favourite superhero characters.
Resident Barbara Wild, aged 76, couldn’t wait for the day to wear her new superhero dress bought for the occasion. The impressive dress was decorated with super power quotes of ‘pow’, ‘wham’ and ‘Bam’.
She said: “It’s been great fun, and I have loved seeing everyone dressed up. It’s a chance for us to celebrate the people who dedicate their lives to selflessly caring every day. Whether it is the wonderful NHS teams, or the people caring for others in their own homes or our dedicated team here – we want to say a big thank you.”
Fellow resident Iris Bessent, aged 96, said everyone looked amazing.
She added: “The caring profession does not always attract the recognition it deserves, so National Care Giving Day is an opportunity to shine the light on some of our unsung heroes.”
On National Caregiving Day, the team at Cofton Park Manor also enjoyed a concert with local singer Fran Dwane singing classic songs, including the ‘Superman’ song by Black Lace.
Cofton Park Manor Community Relations Manager, Wendy Sibley added: “Carers are truly dedicated to the people they serve, and a lot of their work is simply unseen.
“We wanted to say thank you to the caring team here at Cofton Park Manor, but also to pay tribute to carers everywhere and highlight the incredible work they do.”
The caring team at Cofton Park were also given a gift to thank them for all their hard work, care, compassion.
