Traditions come alive at Lovell Place for Burns Night

The residents and staff paid tribute to the poet as they enjoyed all the traditions of haggis, neeps & tatties, Scottish music, as well as a warm dram.

Resident Marina, who hails from Scotland and has taught Scottish dancing in the past, said:

“It was a lovely way to get together and enjoy the traditions and hear some lovely Scottish music.”

She was delighted to see her grandson Andrew make the address to the haggis.

Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coach Selina Adams said:

“Burns Night is steeped in tradition, and we all really enjoyed reading poetry, talking about all the Scottish traditions and listening to some amazing music. Also, a big thank you goes to our guest Andrew who entertained us with his fabulous address to the haggis.”

Poet Robert Burns focused his writing on those less privileged, and his vision was for a life of more equality and a better world. The poet had a tough life and died in poverty on the same day his ninth child was born.
