Sporty residents at Meryton Place Care Home are spending lovely, long summer days out in the garden on their smart bowling green.
Now that the sun is shining everyone is benefiting from spending time outdoors in the beautiful garden, keeping fit and building new friendships.
The residents have forged a brilliant new relationship with Keynsham Bowling Club members who are teaching residents the art of the game.
Resident Brenda Beaven said:
“I didn’t realise how much fun bowls could be - we all enjoyed getting gently competitive. I have even been invited to play at the club sometime.
“It is a very sociable activity and so nice to spend time in the garden.”
Bowls club members have agreed to visit the home regularly to enjoy the fun and spread their infectious love of the game.
Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach Gemma Crow said:
“There will no doubt be a few achy arms as residents really put some 'welly' into throwing the woods. I think we will try shot-putting next!
“We are very grateful to the club members for coming along and showing us all how it is done!”
Keynsham Bowling Club, established in 1957, is a mixed club based in the Memorial Park in Keynsham.
