Newton Residents Make Memories As They Embark On New Adventures

Newton House residents have taken every opportunity this summer to explore the wonderful local landscape, from the iconic Kelpies to the amazing Falkirk Wheel.

Wellbeing Coach Kerry-Anne McDade said the two trips gave a new insight into the local area.

The Helix Park is home to the Kelpies, created by artist Andy Scott and which are the largest equine sculptures in the world. They are 100ft tall and weigh almost 300 tonnes each.

Resident Robin said:

“I could have never expected them to be so large, I was dwarfed by them and how incredible they are.”

Well-being and Lifestyle Coach Kerry-Anne McDade said:

“It was amazing to visit the Kelpies, and they had a very mystical element to them.

“A Kelpie is a mythical water horse from Scottish folklore, and according to legend, Kelpies are mischievous and malevolent spirits that inhabit Scotland's lochs, rivers, and streams. Thankfully, these Kelpies were on their best behaviour when we visited!

“This outing brought complete joy and amazement to our residents during their visit as they looked on at the outstanding beauty and immensity of the attraction. It was a truly remarkable day for everyone involved.”

The adventurous residents didn’t stop there and also visited the Falkirk Wheel with residents climbing on board the pretty canal boat.

Resident Marjorie said:

“It was blast, so lovely to be on the canal and slowly meandering along the waterway. It was a lovely way to see the scenery and admire all the surrounding countryside.”

Kerry-Anne McDade added:

“It was an unforgettable thrill for all on board.  With its stunning architecture and fascinating history, it was a day that will be remembered for a long time to come!

“We would like to provide a great thank you to the amazing volunteers at Seagull Trust Cruises Falkirk who guided our tour today.

“They were extremely supportive, patient, and knowledgeable, making the trip all the more fun.”
