Everyone was encouraged to join the fun when a group of Morris dancers arrived at Milngavie Manor for an evening of entertainment.

The Border Reivers Morris Dancers arrived in traditional costume and first demonstrated their rhythmic dancing before engaging residents to join them on the dance floor.

Milngavie Manor Resident Susan said:

“This is something I have not seen before; it was good having them in the Milngavie Manor.

“It was certainly different and not what I was expecting at all. There was more action, and they were more energetic than I expected. This is something I have never tried before, and I had not realised it could be so much fun.”

Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach Morag Scott added,

“It was a lovely evening. It was uplifting and amazing to watch, and it was very good to see something different.”

The Border Reivers Morris is based in Glasgow and was founded in 2016. The dancers use a range of props including wooden sticks and bells attached to their shins.

Morag added:

“The hitting of the sticks as the dancers were moving was enjoyed by the residents but they were worried they would miss and hit each other.

“However, their precision dancing was amazing to watch.

“The group members were very informative and explained the dancing to the residents.”

After the dance residents enjoyed a question-and-answer session as well as chatting with the dancers.
