Delicious cocktails and mocktails were conjured up at Cambridge Grove when residents celebrated National Cocktail Day.
The big day on March 24 was hailed a great idea by residents and staff, who couldn’t wait to mix up a few of their own ideas.
The colourful refreshments were mixed up, and each was given a special name.
Resident Sue Bartlett, aged 94, who moved to Cambridge Grove from Saffron Walden, said she loved her ‘Elderflower Fizz’ cocktail and enjoyed the ‘wild’ taste.
Sue has just moved to Cambridge Grove so was particularly thrilled by the occasion. She said:
“How lovely to enjoy such a wonderful event on the day I move in. It’s great to be able to meet new people already.”
And for fellow resident Robert Secker, aged 81, who is from Cambridge, he said that the ‘Elderflower Fizz’ was the tastiest.
Resident Patricia Harris, aged 89, who moved to Cambridge Grove from Northampton, said she would stick with her ‘Groovy Grove’ cocktail and its fruity taste which she loved. She added:
“We’ve created some delicious cocktails, I hope we can have another evening similar in the summer and enjoy the garden with a cocktail in hand.”
Wellbeing Coach Amy Milburn, who used to own a pub, proved to be an excellent mixologist. She said:
“We have enjoyed mixing the cocktails and mocktails and thinking up fun and relevant names for them. We will definitely be doing this again in the warmer weather and cannot wait to have cocktails in the garden – this was just practice!”
The home used childhood memories as well as recent ones to mix their favourite recipes – and even created their unique cocktail – the Cambridge Grove Cocktails!
Head chef John Wayman provided some amazing nibbles, and guest Peter Godber (entertained everyone on the keyboard, playing suitable music for the occasion.
