The delighted team at Lovell Place Care Home is celebrating after being handed an award from the Bristol Dementia Action Alliance.
Residents and staff at Lovell Place Care Home have won the award for the incredible work they do promoting dementia awareness and community engagement having raised money for the Bristol Dementia Action Alliance as well as the Alzheimer’s Society throughout the year.
Lovell Place Customer Relations Manager Sarah Jacka said: “We are thrilled to pick up this amazing award which is testament to our hard work and commitment to helping make Bristol a dementia aware city.
“We are proud to support the dementia charities which work so hard not only to promote awareness but to invest in further research.
“As a home that provides dedicated dementia care, we will continue to drive awareness. We have recently started a ‘Singing to Remember’ group, which is open to everyone in the local community.”
Earlier in the year, residents and staff were joined by local Mayor Cllr Dayley Lawrence to help raise the awareness of dementia during Dementia Action Week.
Everyone was delighted when they managed to raise £300 for Bristol Dementia Action Alliance and £100 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
During the week, the home held several fundraising events, including a pop-up café, an interactive musical session as well as inviting people to join a ‘Dementia Bus Experience’ tour.
Bristol Dementia Action Alliance is a non-profit making, community-based project, mostly resourced by volunteers. It is part of an alliance of similar groups throughout the UK, working towards enabling their communities to become more dementia aware.
Sarah added: “We shall certainly continue our work and shout out about this wonderful award. Well done to all our residents, the team, our lovely families as well as to our local community.”
