BIG-HEARTED residents at a Cofton Hackett care home are making children's wishes come true this Christmas.
The residents at Cofton Park Manor, Lickey Road, have joined forces with family-led business DOC Cleaning to collect beautiful new children's toys for those who visit Your Local Pantry, St Barts, at Allens Cross Community Centre in Northfield.
It is part of the home's Act of Kindness initiative which runs throughout the year and sees residents and the teams at Cofton Park Manor generously reach out to the community.
Resident Kathleen Postings, aged 91, said: "Christmas should be such a happy time for children, but sadly, many families are struggling and cannot afford to buy presents for their children.
"We want to bring a little smile to the children's faces and show them that we are thinking of them this Christmas."
Allens Cross provides a venue where local people not only socialise but also adapt healthy lifestyles through various projects, including gardening. It's set to be a hub of activity this coming festive season.
It hosts Your Local Pantry, St Barts, where residents who live within three miles of Allens Cross can join up as members and access a whole range of benefits.
Cofton Park Community Relations manager Wendy Sibley said: "We want to help families who don't have a lot of money. We don't believe any child should wake up on Christmas morning without a present.
"We hope our gifts will make a real difference for less fortunate families who could use a little extra help this Christmas.
"It's been super to collaborate with DOC Cleaning as together we've been able to provide Allens Cross with a lovely array of gifts."
Your Local Pantry, St Barts volunteer Teresa Hussey said: "Everyone at St Barts Pantry is so thankful and overwhelmed by the wonderful donations. The children will be so happy."
