The competition was fierce but friendly when residents at Richmond Manor Care Home celebrated their very own Olympics.
Whilst the world’s eyes were on Paris watching top athletes compete for gold – closer to home, Richmond staff and residents were focused on their own games.
Residents watched the opening ceremony and passed a baton around the home with excitement and support for Team GB.
Resident John said:
“It’s always inspiring watching the Olympics, and this year, Team GB has done so well winning the medals.
“So, the chance of running our own Olympic Games was too good a chance to miss – medals were being handed out all over the place!”
Residents competed in the weightlifting championships and javelin in the garden, as well as target practice and golf!
Customer Relations Manager Val Foley said:
“We’ve had the sunshine, and now the medals – and our daily events did get nicely competitive, and we have laughed a lot.
“It was all a bit of fun handing out the award-winning certificates – although everyone is a winner here at Richmond Manor!”
