You’re never too old to enjoy our fabulous British panto - and residents at Edwalton Manor Care Home got into the true spirit of the festive tradition when they sat down to watch Jack and the Beanstalk.
The show at Nottingham Playhouse thrilled residents proving that audience participation is still a major part of the show.
Boos and hisses could be heard for miles around.
Resident Joan said: “I had forgotten how much fun the panto is and how involved the audience is, we felt that we were very much part of the show with everyone cheering and calling out names.
“It’s a wonderful tradition and it is a show for all the family.”
Edwalton Manor Wellbeing Lead Assistant Isabelle Thompson said: “Everyone was rooting for their hero Jack in the fabulous pantomime at Nottingham Playhouse.
“The residents loved it, even though the whole theatre was full of screaming teenagers, residents were certainly laughing loudly and enjoying the very funny scenes.”
Jack and the Beanstalk is one of our favourite British pantos and tells the story of Jack who exchanges the family cow for mysterious beans. Once the beans become a giant beanstalk, his adventure begins creating giant-sized fun and laughter.
Resident Ida added: “The costumes were spectacular, and it was all very over the top and silly – just as it should be.”
