Fun-loving Edwalton Manor residents were certainly up for a laugh when they went for a trip to their local bowling alley – and the experience brought back some happy memories.
The group visited Tenpin Nottingham for a day of half-term ‘strike’ action.
Resident Shiela said:
“It’s been over 50 years since I last went bowling, I remember taking my daughter when she was younger.”
Fellow resident Durgam said:
“It’s good for exercise and very nice to enjoy a new environment.”
Meanwhile Joan couldn’t believe how convenient, accessible, and easy it all was since her days on the lanes.
She said:
“It’s all changed! We don’t even have to change our shoes anymore!”
Residents were accompanied by staff members Alice Kirkby, Katie Duke and Myley transport driver Alan.
Wellbeing Coach Alice Kirkby added:
“We had an amazing time, and it certainly brought back some happy memories for some residents. They were able to relive their youth slightly and had the chance to do something out of the norm. However, it was also a chance to create new memories and have a laugh. Tenpin were very accommodating, and even in the busy half term, they were happy to help us.”
Alice said the group were particularly grateful to Alan from Myley. Myley provides transport to care homes throughout the year, helping people enjoy new experiences.
Alice added:
“Alan went above and beyond helping our residents and staff.
“He was also very clued up to the best way to manoeuvre wheelchairs around the lanes. He was certainly useful when it came to negotiating the lanes.”
