Family man Duncan Livsay celebrated his 80th birthday in the grand company of his family and lots of big happy cheers.

Glasgow-born Duncan was given the special birthday treatment at Elstow Manor with a wonderful cake and all the trimmings.

Chefs laid on a delicious birthday tea which included sandwiches, cakes and celebratory drinks.

Duncan said:

“It was quite a surprise, and to have my family around me, as well as all the kindness at Elstow, really made my day.”

The former expert sales engineer, who grew up in Luton, marked the big day with his children Niki and Scott, among other relatives.

When Duncan was born, the Second World War had been raging for almost five years. In June 1944, the U.S. and Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy, France, and the invasion signalled the beginning of the end Nazi Germany.

Duncan was just a tiny baby.

As well as having two children Duncan, a keen Glasgow Rangers fan, has five grandchildren: Jack, Regan, Sofia, Luca and Arla.
