A DAZZLING display of dance show routines impressed residents and staff at a Bromsgrove care home when they held their very own ‘Strictly’ dance contest.

As the nation tuned into the popular BBC favourite Strictly Come Dancing with celebrities lined up to impress the audience, everyone at Cofton Park Manor Care Home couldn’t wait to share the fun.

Resident Sybil Gillett said: “We had a blast, I have not had a waltz for a while, but it all came back!”

Fellow resident Kathleen Postings, aged 91, was a judge on the day. She said: “It was fun using the score cards, the problem is, that everyone was so good.”

On the day residents at the Lickey Road home invited Retro Rhythm Dancers to join them and show them the steps.

Resident Iris Bessent, aged 96, added: “I am a big fan of Strictly Come Dancing and love to see what they will do next and have my own favourites, it was great fun to recreate the atmosphere here at Cofton Park Manor.”

Also, on the day residents enjoyed chatting about the popular show over a delicious tea at their cosy home.

Community Relations Manager Wendy Sibley said: “The dancers were wonderful and demonstrated some dazzling displays of ballroom routines.

“Everyone was amused and entertained, with plenty of standing ovations. In the true ‘Strictly’ style, our residents were the proud panel of judges, scoring the dances with their handmade score cards with some amazing and encouraging comments.”
