Everyone immersed themselves in India’s rich culture when residents and staff at Charrington Manor celebrated India Independence Day.

The home laid on a feast of entertainment and even invited ABC Dance Fitness to come along and perform some traditional dance.

Charrington resident Pamela, who lived in India for many years, said:

“This is a very important day to mark, and it’s wonderful to do this together. I learned so much more about India’s rich heritage.”

Charrington Manor Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach Claudia Modiga said:

“This afternoon was a perfect example of what makes our home so special.

“We all came together to celebrate, connect, and create joy. We are grateful to everyone who made the day such a success and look forward to more wonderful celebrations in the future

“The atmosphere was filled with the spirit of celebration, enhanced by beautiful decorations that adorned the entire room, reflecting India's rich culture and colours. The sounds of traditional Indian music set the tone for the afternoon, creating an inviting and festive ambience that resonated throughout the event.”

Everyone was impressed with the members of ABC Dance Fitness, who got everyone buzzing with excitement and joining the dance steps.

Claudia added,

“They did a fantastic job of involving everyone. There were lots of smiles and laughter. We have made so many more happy memories.”

Charrington's Chef created an amazing table of food including Samosas and Spring rolls enjoyed by everyone.

ABC Dance Fitness is designed to get people moving, no matter their age, whether through Bollywood, Bhangra, or Street dance.

Independence Day is celebrated on 15 August as a public holiday in India and marks the nation's independence from the United Kingdom on 15 August 1947.
