Festive Cambridge Grove Care Home residents couldn’t wait to join the local community to judge a Christmas tree decorating competition.
The residents went along to St. Andrew’s Church, Cherry Hinton for their Christmas Tree Festival where an incredible 25 trees had been decorated by local groups including the Scouts, primary schoolchildren and the local craft group.
Resident Maurice Key, aged 93, said: “It’s such a beautiful church and the trees are wonderful.”
The residents were asked to choose a favourite tree and put a button in the relevant pot, to vote. There were some tough decisions to make.
After the judging everyone enjoyed a hot drink and slice of homemade cake or mince pie.
Cambridge Grove Home Ambassador Amy Milburn said: “We had a fabulous time together at St Andrew’s Church.
“The trees were amazing and some of the handmade decorations were very inspiring and very creative.”
Amy said she couldn’t wait to support the event next year and has even helped to become a volunteer organiser.
Amy added: “We loved it all so much, we want to ensure it takes place next year. It was such a special morning for everyone who visited. We’ll definitely be decorating a tree for them next year!”
The Christmas Tree Festival runs for five days and includes the local community in other events including a mince pie competition and carol singing.
