IT’S GOOD to do good’, say generous residents at an Eastleigh care home who have donated to a harvest festival appeal.
The residents at Alston House Care Home, Leigh Road, supported the collection at Eastleigh Baptist Church in Wells Place.
Resident Eunice Parish, aged 85, said: “I think it’s very good to give to those in need.
“The harvest has always brought people together. Collecting the donations and taking them to Eastleigh Baptist Church Harvest Service gives a real sense of purpose and community. It’s good to do good.”
The residents have been collecting the food goods over the last month and could not wait to deliver them at the special harvest festival in aid of Eastleigh Basics Bank.
The food bank, run by volunteers, was launched by the churches of Eastleigh to support those who are experiencing financial difficulty and need short-term support through the provision of food.
Alston House Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach Kelly-Marie Adams said: “Harvest festivals are really beneficial to the community and it’s lovely to support Eastleigh Baptist Church and great to see our residents engaging with the church community.
“We were keen to donate to our local food bank, Eastleigh Basics Bank and thankful for the donations from family and friends.
“It’s good to do good.”
