Special memories were made when Betty and Peter Hallt sat down to a wedding anniversary tea at Alston House playing host to the local mayor and mayoress
The dedicated couple, who met as teenagers in 1950 at a youth club, played host to Eastleigh Borough Council Mayor Nick Couldrey and his wife Ann.
The couples enjoyed a delicious tea, which had been meticulously organised by the Alston House team. Peter said:
“It was a pleasure to have met the Mayor and Mayoress and have tea with them. Having them with us today made our anniversary even more memorable.”
Betty added:
“They both are very nice people. Thank you for organising this for us.”
The couple were married in March 1954 and once Peter returned from active duty with the RAF, the couple moved to London before settling on a house in Hampshire.
Betty and Peter have travelled widely and were able to retire around 1990 and enjoyed playing golf together for many years.
The couple have two sons, five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
During their anniversary celebrations, which fell on International Women’s Day, Home Manager Magda Anca welcomed the Mayoress with a bouquet.
Magda said:
“Although the big event was Peter and Betty’s anniversary, we also wanted to mark International Women’s Day and having the Mayoress with us, let us do something special for that too.”
Wellbeing Coach Lidia Nikolova Gjorgjieva said:
“Happy anniversary to a wonderful couple, we have loved seeing Peter and Betty enjoy their very special day, and together we have all created some lovely new memories. Thank you also to the Mayor and Mayoress for visiting and celebrating with our lovely couple here at Alston House.”
