‘SUPERHERO’ CARERS CELEBRATED AT COFTON

Staff dressed as superheroes to the delight of residents and families, and ‘Supergirl’ Wendy Sibley even made an amazing costume switch using the home's very own feature phone box.

And resident Sybil Garett joined the fun and filmed the whole event, much to the delight of everyone on the day.

Home Manager Kerry Hill said: “Here at Cofton Manor Park, we are very privileged to work with so many wonderful people, and our staff put 110% into their caring role every day.

“We provide support to residents as well as to family and friends. We may not always look like superheroes, but everyday carers make a huge difference.

“This is why it is important to raise awareness of caring and highlight the challenges carers face throughout the country.

“Although we provide care in the beautiful surroundings of Cofton Park, there are many, many people providing care in the community, and they are often unrecognised for the crucial role they play.”

Throughout the day, everyone, including visitors to the home, cheered and praised the Cofton Park Manor staff, who dressed as a range of superheroes from Spiderman to Cat Woman.

Carers Week is an annual campaign which highlights the role of those who may be looking after a family member or friend who has a disability, mental or physical illness, addiction or who needs extra help as they grow older.

Kerry added: “It is so important that we recognise the contribution carers make to their families and local communities, workplaces and society and that they get the support they need.
