The residents joined staff and family for the tasty activity proving that milkshakes have huge health benefits.

Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach at Newton House, Kerri MacNeil, said: “It’s always nice to get creative and even better if we can taste the results.

“Milkshakes can provide us with proteins, sugar, vitamins as well as valuable dietary fibre which helps with our digestion

“We all loved doing some milkshake making and decorating, and residents chose from strawberry, chocolate, or vanilla milkshake flavour and then decorated these using squirty cream and sprinkles, it was lots of fun!”

Resident Eric Dobson added: “It was great fun and I enjoyed getting to try the different milkshake flavours!”

Kerri added: “We can all remember enjoying a milkshake as children, so this activity also brought back lots of positive memories.”

Milkshakes were invented in 1885 and, most incredibly, were first served with whiskey.

However, by the early 1900s, milkshakes were served with ice cream. In 1922, the blender was created specifically for creating milkshakes.

The world's largest milkshake was 6,000 gallons, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
