The staff awards - held in the palladium area of the home - were an alternative to the usual care awards and had everyone in stitches over the name of some of the categories, including ‘fashionista’ and ‘classroom clown’.
Verwood House Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach Emilia Turner said: “Everyone here gives the extra to ensure we provide the very best care for our wonderful residents.
“It is a privilege to work in this sector and as well as hard work we all enjoy our work, and we wanted to hold an awards event to reflect our sense of humour, as well as to say thank you.”
The home was specially dressed for the Oscar-style event, and there was even a red carpet for staff to step onto! Residents, families as well as staff voted in the run-up to the big event.
Winners received a personalised certificate as well as the iconic gold-coloured Oscar trophies.
Emilia added: “The event was such a success we are planning to do these quarterly.
“Everyone is a winner, and it was such a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate the individuals at Verwood House.
“Staff members, relatives, and residents voted. We even had residents Marina and Audrey walking the red carpet!’’
