Whilst enjoying the community garden, which is bordered by the Forth and Clyde Canal on one side and Possil Marsh on the other, the group also got to enjoy a delicious cuppa.

Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach, Morag Scott, said: “The community gardens are fascinating and offer a real chance to learn about the heritage of this area.

“We all enjoyed talking about the plants and landscape and the tea was definitely worth waiting for, offering us a good chance to have a chat and also to sit for a while in the beautiful surroundings.”

Lambhill Stables was built around 1815 as a staging post in the days when horses pulled boats and barges along the canal.

Resident Betty Gilchrist said: “What a lovely day the group had, the sun shone, we were all very curious to see the gardens and learn about how the community has pulled together in the interests of our local heritage.”

In 2007 the building was acquired by the community and has been transformed into a busy community hub. It hosts a variety of clubs and is supported by a range of organisations.

Morag added: “It is wonderful for everyone to be out in the open and enjoying such a lovely site, we hope to be visiting Lambhill again soon.”
