Professional musician Julia Hammersley spent the afternoon at the home where she played from a varied script, whilst delighted residents enjoyed scrumptious cake and tea.

Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coach Selina Adams said: “Music has so many benefits for our well-being and listening is a great tool to keep our brains engaged and active.

“It’s a bit like having a brain workout. Whilst is helps reduce anxiety, blood pressure and pain, it can also improve the quality of our sleep as well as our memory. It can bring back memories.”

During the amazing afternoon at Lovell Place, residents also had the opportunity to try out a mini harp which Julia brought along for the session.

Selina added: “It was wonderful listening to Julia play, very soothing and completely relaxing. We would like to thank her very much for bringing such joy to us all.”

Harp music is thought to be particularly good at regulating stress hormones, equalizing and slowing down brain waves, inducing restful sleep, releasing physical and emotional suffering, and helping listeners to access peaceful states conducive to healing.
