Iris-istible creations for residents at Chawley Grove

The expert floristry workshop was led by Nicola from The Flower Shop, Botley in nearby Elms Parade.

Nicola helped residents create their own amazing designs so they can display them in their rooms and show them off to friends and family.

Chawley Grove Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach Megan Wilson said: “Nicola was so enthusiastic and really focused on helping residents create their own vision for their displays.

“These beautiful arrangements will be cherished by the residents particularly as the session was such a happy occasion and brought everyone together.”

The residents chose to use dried flowers mainly because they can enjoy them longer.

Megan added: “Flower arranging is a wonderful activity because it engages multiple senses, the bright colours together with the fragrant scents provide sensory stimulation and this is all good for the brain.

“So, whilst we think of the visual elements of floral displays, we must not forget to enjoy the sweet scent of the flowers and leaves.

“Thank you so much to Nicola for sharing her skills and ideas.”

And as always, after the busy activity, residents were able to enjoy a lovely cup of tea and delicious cakes thanks to Chawley Grove’s chef.
