Residents and staff hosted Bloom judges, including local Town Mayor Councillor Liz Jones, for a competition visit – and the panel were so impressed with Caddington’s wheelbarrow display, that they have put the home through to the category finals.
Caddington’s Hotel Service Manager, Siobhan Connolly, was particularly keen on designing the imaginative wheelbarrow display.
She said: “We have a beautiful garden here at Caddington Grove and this year it is certainly looking its best. However, we decided to enter our wheelbarrow display as everyone has been so creative making it all come together.
“It’s been a huge team effort. Dunstable in Bloom presents some tough competition, and we are delighted to get through to the finals.
“We all love the idea of making our community a more colourful place to live, and as much as we enjoy seeing what others have done, we hope that everyone who visits our home can enjoy our garden.”
The home will have to wait until September to discover if they have won their category, Best Decorated and Planted Wheelbarrow.
This year’s theme for Dunstable in Bloom is ‘grow your own’ which has been inspired by the Coronation of King Charles III and his passion for horticulture and sustainable organic growing.
Dunstable in Bloom was set up in 2009/10 to help Dunstable participate in the regional Anglia in Bloom campaign to try to make the town a more attractive place to visit, live and work in.
It is a community-based organisation bringing together local residents, volunteers, community groups, schools and Dunstable Town Council.
