Staff members have also dipped in and shared baking tips as well as recipes, sweet and savoury.
The book will be shared with families as well as being used at the home during cooking sessions.
Resident Jean Oliver, who used to work for Kodak, John Dickinson Stationery and for Sainsbury’s, has shared memories of making cakes for her children.
Jean who lived locally before moving to Verwood House, said: ‘’I used to find the baking cakes enjoyable, and it kept me busy. I have some lovely memories of making all sorts of cakes for my family.’’
Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coach Emilia Turner said: “We enjoy sharing our life stories with each other at Verwood and of course we enjoy mealtimes together.
“Our residents have such a variety of experience and tastes and it made sense to us to start collecting recipes based on Residents’ favourite cake choices and memories as well as useful baking tips.
“We are having a lot of fun putting this book together, it is just a start, but we are hoping it will grow into something bigger. It is very important for us to learn about our residents’ memories and provide person centred activities.
“And sharing the recipes has brought back so many wonderful memories for our residents.
“Who knows, perhaps we can create some competition for Mary Berry with our tasty treats.”
