The prize pumpkin was donated to the home as a gift from one resident’s family and took pride of place as the centrepiece of the Halloween decorations.
Meanwhile, Milngavie’s creative team got busy carving up more pumpkins to add to their display, which wowed passers-by.
Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach Morag Scott said: “We were all keen to master the art of perfect pumpkin carving, and we think it all starts with cutting a hole in the bottom of the pumpkin first.
“By the time next year comes around, we will be experts! I couldn’t wait to display our own pumpkins around the home, but it was lovely to get a very special pumpkin given to us by a resident’s family.”
Residents and staff also swapped stories about what they could do with pumpkins and came up with roasting the seeds, making pumpkin pie, vegetable stock, pumpkin soup and even pumpkin bread.
Morag added: “The pumpkins have such a wonderful colour, so it’s lovely to have them on display, but they are also a very versatile fruit.”
