Entertainer Mister Serenade, who has worked on projects for Disney+ and Netflix, performed a special concert full of classic songs.
The Elstow team had decorated the lounge and kept residents well refreshed during Mister Serenade’s fabulous concert.
When the music stopped, everyone got a slice of birthday cake as people reflected on a year living and working at Elstow.
Resident Georgina Beckett, the third person to move into the new luxury care home, said it had been a great first year.
Georgina said: “I very much like staying here – everyone is so open and friendly.
“The home is a very pretty place with a lovely garden, which we enjoy walking around.”
Resident Frances Snelling added: “I really like the garden. Elstow Manor feels like home.”
Their words meant a lot to Home Manager Sarah Hancock, who is proud of the work her team have done.
Sarah said: “It’s been a very busy year, and it’s been nice to see the home grow.
“We’ve built a good team and community here.”
Regional Community Lead Val Foley added that it’s the people who really make Elstow a great place to be.
Val said: “I cannot believe it’s been a year since we opened!
“Getting to greet, meet and get to know the residents and their families makes our work worthwhile. Elstow is a beautiful home to work and live in.”
For Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coach Ollie Waddington the past year has given him the chance to find out what residents enjoy doing and to timetable activities and events they’ll enjoy.
Ollie said: “It’s been a great first year and I’ve enjoyed getting to support residents and families in this gorgeous, homely environment.
“I feel proud to have been part of the team who’ve grown the home from the start.”
Head of Domestic Val echoed Ollie’s sentiments as she said what a fantastic atmosphere there is at Elstow Manor.
Val said: “It’s a well-led home with great staff and lovely residents and families.
“They make coming into work a delight!”
