The sweet treats arrived plain for the session so that the residents could put their own stamp on them with festive designs.
Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach Tina Betteridge supported the residents as they piped ‘Merry Christmas’ messages on the chocolate cakes.
Then it was time to add on some seasonal decorations, including poinsettia, holly and some festive snowmen.
Tina said: “We had lots of fun making our Yule logs look suitably Christmassy.
“Piping out the icing through the nozzle is harder than it looks, so the residents did a great job.
“It turns out that yule logs were a bit of a favourite among the group, who all had enjoyed eating them before.
“It’ll be nice to cut into our decorated yule logs and know they’ve got that personal touch from the residents.”
The yule log icing was just one of the Christmas activities Tina has arranged for residents on the run-up to the day itself.
Meanwhile, Upton Manor has been decked with wonderful Christmas decorations, including a vintage Santa Claus.
Tina added: “It’s a lovely time of the year, and it’s nice to get residents chatting about their Christmas traditions.
“However, I think we can all agree that we all prefer eating yule logs to icing them!”
