A large number of people are expected to receive their jabs at Abbots Wood Manor Care Home in London Road. The home, which is not yet open to residents, will be used as a vaccination hub on set days by appointment only.
Quintin Medical Centre, on Hawkswood Road, Hailsham has welcomed the use of the communal areas inside the home where their staff can work safely administering the jab.
Practice GP Dr Dominic Gray said: “This is the largest ever vaccination programme undertaken by the NHS, and to deliver this effectively it is important to work with our community to provide this jab in a convenient setting.
“This is why we are delighted to be able to use Abbots Wood Manor which, not only is easily accessible, but offers good open areas ensuring infection control which is paramount.
“As a local GP I am very proud to be part of this national effort and I would urge everyone who is called up, to take the vaccine.”
Our East Sussex care home, surrounded by landscaped gardens, will offer residential, nursing and dementia care as well as short breaks when it opens on 15th February next month.
The luxury care home has been designed with the highest safety standards in mind in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and additional features include a bespoke COVID-secure visitation suite, and in-built thermal imaging technology in the entrance lobby to ensure all visitors to the home, including staff, have their temperature taken on a daily basis.
