Emilia, who has worked at Verwood House, for more than 10 years was hailed as an ‘engaging and innovative’ worker in the regional finals of the national care award.
Great British Care Awards judges said: “Emilia is a fantastic candidate for the award – an engaging, supportive and innovative worker with lots of ideas and themes to keep the residents entertained through lockdowns.
“Winter wonderland, to Grease to cruise ships – Emilia went above and beyond to ensure all residents no matter their individual situation, could join in with the activities and events she hosted in the home.”
Emilia, who attended the glamourous awards night in Ashton Gate Stadium, Bristol, said: “I am overwhelmed by this award. l could not be happier.
“I do something I completely enjoy at Verwood House where I am proud to work alongside wonderful people with the loveliest of residents.
“I am over the moon, and this has inspired me to think up even more activities!”
As well as beach activities, personalised cocktail events and creating a giant lockdown collage, Emilia has also worked with residents to create a beautiful memorial garden in honour of the late Prince Philip.
She also managed to keep residents on their toes when she helps organise a quiz with TV celebrity Shaun Wallace of The Chase.
Emilia, who studied travel and tourism at Brockenhurst College, plans activities based on residents’ interests and needs.
The Great British Care Awards celebrate excellence across the care sector, paying tribute to good work.
Having scooped top prize in the regional awards, Emilia will now go through to the national finals and winners will be announced in March 2022.
