The event was particularly poignant for resident Doris Goddard who is known locally in Bethnal Green for her great apple pie making skills – having learned them from her mother.
Doris, (pictured) first became famous for her home-made apple pies when she was a regular at Bethnal Green Mission Church, Cambridge Heath Road.
The Apple Day extravaganza was organised by Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coach Lucy Bingham.
Lucy said: “Apple Day is a celebration and a reminder of the variety of apples we actually have here and is a UK tradition, however it has also grown into something more and is about the richness and diversity of our landscape and what we could also be in danger of losing.
“It is celebrated across the country and organisations like the Women’s Institute as well as the National Trust mark the day.
“So, we wanted to have our very first Apple Day here at Rosewood House and of course it’s a chance to eat some delicious pie too!
“Decorating the pie is one thing, but eating it is a treat.”
