Message from Strictly star as dance troupe brings ‘Strictly Fever’ to Dunstable Care Home

On Pointe Dance Academy visited Caddington Grove care home, on London Road, in the first of a series of performances showcasing their ballroom and theatrical themed dances.

As contestants on the live TV show prepare to dance at the world famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom, the care home events helped residents reminisce about their own dancing days.

Resident and avid Strictly fan, Irene Atkinson said the performances brought back treasured memories from the prestigious ballroom.

She said "I love dancing. I first started tap dancing at aged six or seven, and then went on to dance ballroom.

We used to go dancing at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom and seeing these dancers here today brings back such happy memories!"

Dunstable-born Strictly Star Faye Tozer is the favourite contestant amongst residents; they've been sending her well wishes online, and were absolutely thrilled to receive a message back. In her message Faye said "This is so amazing!!! Please send mine and Giovanni's love to all the residents and team! Thank you so much for all your support! It means the world to us! Good luck to the Performing Arts Depot . . . and keeeeeeeep dancing!!!"

Home Manager Martyn Dawes said "The dancers were absolutely wonderful and our residents loved their performances. We've now well and truly got 'Strictly Fever' at the home."
