POPPY’S PICTURE-PERFECT MOMENT AT ELSTOW

When Lesley Bunker-Nixon from the charity Pets as Therapy visited animal loving residents at Elstow, with her ‘best friend’, she left behind a copy of a painting of the good-looking pooch.

The image had been beautifully painted by artist Janice Gilbert.

Elstow Manor Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coach Oliver Waddington said: “We are lucky enough to be visited every week by Lesley and Poppy from Pets as Therapy.

“And this time Poppy was unbelievably cute, and everyone adores her so the copy of the painting in the room is a constant positive reminder.

“We hope Poppy comes back to see us, but in the meantime, thanks to Lesley we have her picture here to admire here at Elstow!”

It is a known fact that pets are good therapy for people. Not only do they help us get moving but they help us develop better cognitive function and provide opportunities to socialize. They help us decrease our blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and triglyceride levels.

Pets as Therapy (PAT) is a national charity which helps bring volunteers and their pets into schools, care, hospitals and other venues.

Oliver added: “We cannot wait for our visits from Pets as Therapy and to see which wonderful pet will visit next. The animals are always gentle and stroking them and seeing their joy is very satisfying.”
